I hate when this happens…. but this bass has obviously seen better days.
I bought this bass nearly 14 years ago in some Tallahassee music store for $400. I loaned it out several times (hence it has not appeared in my BassGallery page)… and just got it back a few days ago. Not like this, though… it was in one piece and in fact I played it at a gig last night. Then at about 4 AM this morning I awoke to what sounded like a window breaking… and found this! Basically age, heavy-gauge orchestral strings and low humidity resulted in the bass’ neck snapping at the heel from the body.
